Meet Alexis Grace

Alexis Grace is a Memphis-born singer, songwriter, and actress whose voice is as rich and multifaceted as the city that raised her. She first earned national attention on Season 8 of American Idol, where her powerhouse performances and unmistakable stage presence led Simon Cowell to call her the “dark horse of the competition.” But Alexis was no overnight success — long before the TV lights, she was already embedded in the DNA of Memphis music.

The daughter of a Beale Street R&B musician, Alexis grew up steeped in soul — with Aretha Franklin and Ann Peebles playing in the background and gospel harmonies anchoring her in the church choir. She refined her vocal abilities through jazz and opera training at Memphis’ Overton High School, a renowned performing arts magnet, and continued her studies at the University of Memphis' Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. This deep and diverse musical education shaped her into a technically sharp yet emotionally raw performer with a voice that moves between genres with ease.

In 2014, she released her debut EP Kiddo, a critically acclaimed collection of bold pop songs that showcased her versatility and vocal firepower. Critics praised the record as “a mini-blast of shiny, confident modern pop,” singling out the lead single “I’m So Done” for its Top 40-ready energy and Alexis’s ability to “battle a dense, driving backing track to an effective draw.” The EP marked her arrival not just as a vocalist, but as a fully formed recording artist with a distinct point of view.

Alexis’s creative reach extends beyond the studio. She has appeared in several film and television projects, including the cult comedy series Trailer Park Boys, Hallmark’s Wedding at Graceland, and the offbeat documentary Show Business is My Life, But I Can’t Prove It, blending her expressive instincts and musical timing into every role. Whether behind the mic or in front of the camera, Alexis brings a captivating presence and an artist’s eye to every project she takes on.

Now, she’s entering a new chapter. Her upcoming single “West Coast” — out June 27th and produced by Memphis powerhouse John Paul Keith — is a dreamy, feminine ode to California, a place she calls her second home. Laced with shimmering textures and soaring, Beach Boys-inspired harmonies, the track showcases Alexis’s signature ability to stack vocals into lush, cinematic waves. The one-take music video, also dropping June 27th, captures the track’s nostalgic energy in a single sweeping shot — a visual love letter to Los Angeles and the moment that inspired it.

With a background rooted in soul, a voice built for the big stage, and a storyteller’s heart that transcends genre, Alexis Grace continues to evolve — always grounded, always reaching, and always singing like it matters.
